Sharon Gibson

Councillor for Latrobe City Council in GippslandĀ

As it is so important to help inform people about hepatitis early enough, so if they have hepatitis, they will have time to take the right measures to ensure they do not develop potentially life threatening issues.

I am a Councillor for Latrobe City Council and have been for 12 years, in this time I have witnessed varying issues from the positive to negative and all in between.

When you think you have seen most things, you soon find out there is always something you have not seen.

I also have a radio program on Gippsland FM that is called, “The Valley Talks” once a week and this is where I first learnt about the problem with hepatitis.

My journey is about the Community and helping them, which is what I do with my Councillor role and the radio program that I have on Gippsland FM.

If people know early enough that they actually have hepatitis, then they have a chance to do something about it and change what could be a life threatening disease.

Sharon’s message to others…

Any symptoms, have the test. When you are having blood tests, add this test in whether you have any symptoms or not. Lastly, spread the word that Hepatitis is around and just have the test.
