About me

My Name is Ikran. I am a 3rd year student at Deakin University studying Public Health and health promotion. I have a deep interest and passion for health and wellbeing, and a background in Nursing. I am enthusiastic and a self-motivated person who is always looking for an opportunity to learn new things.

What tips do I have for new volunteers?

Enjoy what you love to do.

What inspired me to become a Hepatitis Victoria volunteer?

As I am nearing the end of my degree, I was due to do health practicum placement unit to put the theory I have learnt in class into practice.

When it came to choose an organization my first choice was Hepatitis Victoria because of my interest in health and my nursing background has inspired to become a volunteer.

Additionally, in my community there’s a lot of stigma and shame associated with hepatitis and liver disease. Someday I might contribute to changing the narrative.

One of your favorite Hepatitis Victoria sessions or moments.

I love interacting with the staff and conversing with them. I love the diversity of the workplace. My favorite sessions are the team meetings as it gives me an overview on how everyone’s work is important and emerges together.

What tips do I have for new volunteers?

Enjoy yourself whilst learning.
