Ngun King Bol

Volunteer of the Month, July 2020

About me

My name is Ngun King Bol. I am Burmese, Hakha Chin native.

I came to Australia as a refugee in 2007 with my family.

Last year I graduated from La Trobe University with Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) major.

What tips do I have for new volunteers?

I have always wanted to volunteer in any kind of fields however I didn’t have the chance to do it.

Volunteering is a way I can express gratitude towards a community.

What inspired me to become a Hepatitis Victoria volunteer?

Since there is the opportunity to volunteer, I chose to volunteer with Hep Vic because I want to spread awareness of this issue within my ethnic community.

One of your favorite Hepatitis Victoria sessions or moments.

Coincidentally, there was a task of translating to do in Hakha, Chin I was really excited about it but I was kind of nervous at the same time as it was my very first time doing it.

I am really happy I completed it with the best of my ability and was really satisfied.

What tips do I have for new volunteers?

If I could give any tips to new volunteers is to do it with passion and with your best ability.
