Culturally And Linguistically Diverse (CALD)

Overview

Through our work with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities, Hepatitis Victoria aims to improve knowledge and access to health information and specialist support services for treatment, as well as to reduce stigma.

We aim to break down barriers to accessing health care, identify knowledge gaps, create relevant and user friendly resources and better understand personal experiences.

Feedback and community requests often inform the development of our projects, targeting communities affected by viral hepatitis and liver disease.

If you are part of a CALD community, or working with a CALD community, and would like to increase your knowledge and access to better liver health, contact us on 1800 703 003

Our CALD Programs

Living Well with Hepatitis B

We conduct FREE hepatitis B information sessions that aim to provide the necessary information and resources to improve health literacy related to liver health and viral hepatitis.

The Living Well With Hepatitis B Reader and Teacher’s Workbook includes four stories with different characters living with hepatitis B with the focus to help eliminate the stigma related to hepatitis B and provide the necessary information. This book is aimed at students attending the session with the use of simple English and pictures.

Contact us to arrange a session with your group or organisation.

TEST CURE LIVE – Hepatitis C Campaign.

Hepatitis Australia worked collaboratively with Hepatitis Victoria/LiverWELL to implement a TEST CURE LIVE (TCL) campaign targeting the Indian community in Victoria. and deliver information and resources about hepatitis C.

The aim of the campaign was to create awareness to the Indian community in Victoria of the risk factors for hepatitis C both in Australia and India and encourage people to:
• Ask their doctor for a test if they have been at risk
• Speak to their doctor about a cure if they have already been diagnosed
• Encourage family or friends who may have been at risk to consider testing and or/treatment.
